ABOUT US

We are a diverse collection of vendors, gathering every week May through the first week of November at the Morgantown MarketPlace and on select weekends indoors in the winter to bring the freshest produce, meats, eggs, breads, and more to the Morgantown community.  We gladly accept SNAP! O
ur products are grown or made by our vendors within 50 miles, so you know that your purchases are supporting small family farms.

History

In 2002 a small group of producers, community-based supporters, and West Virginia University Davis College representatives formed an advisory board with a goal of establishing a reliable Market that would encourage local farmers to supply quality, home-grown produce that would attract customers consistently week after week.

This initial Market was fairly different from the current Morgantown Farmers Market that we know and love.  It originally ran from 7:30-11:30AM at the Seneca Center and had just a few vendors.

Our market became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and strives to provide local farmers with an outlet for their products, to ensure food is available to all, and to educate the public about the benefits of buying local.

FAQ's

Q:  Where can I park?
A:  Contrary to popular belief, there are plenty of parking spots in downtown Morgantown on summer market mornings!  Check out our Google Map of parking lots close to our location OR bike to the Market and use our bike rack!

Q:  What will I find at the Morgantown Farmers' Market?
A:  A large variety of items!  The Morgantown Farmers' Market is dedicated to bringing our customers only the freshest items that are grown or produced within 50 miles of Morgantown, WV.  You'll find meats (beef, bison, pork, lamb, goat, chicken, and turkey), eggs, lots of baked goods using local ingredients, honey, herbs, maple syrup, flowers, nuts, grains, farm-crafted items, a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, and more! Don't forget to sign up for our weekly newsletter to see what is in season.

Q:  Are you only open in the summer?
A:  Nope!  We have a 'Summer Season' that generally runs from the first Saturday in May through the mid November.  We also have a 'Winter Season' that currently runs runs every other week November through April. Check the Markets page for the latest schedule.

Q:  Does the Morgantown Farmers' Market only take cash?
A:  Nope!  We have a machine to take Credit, Debit, and SNAP/EBT cards in exchange for Market Tokens that can be spent at the Market just like cash.  The tokens are good forever and every vendor will accept them. There is a small fee charged to cover credit card fees, and any leftover funding is used to help match SNAP/EBT benefits at our market!  Many of our fresh produce vendors who qualify also accept Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) vouchers and Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) vouchers. Those vendors will have signage letting you know they accept the FNMP vouchers.

Q:  Can I bring my dog to the Morgantown Farmers' Market?
A:  Yes, for the summer markets!  Make your weekly trip to the Market a family event and bring everyone, including your dog!  Be sure to see our Pooch Policy for our rules on behavior and be sure to bring a bag for clean-up after your dog.

Q:  Where can I use the bathroom?
A:  We have a building at the back of our lot for the summer market, which contains two unisex bathrooms. The handicap bathroom also contains a baby changing table for your convenience.

Q:  Where is the closest ATM?
A:  We encourage you to stop by the Market Manager booth at the front of the Market to get Market Tokens if you run out of or forget to bring cash with you.  For summer markets, if you need an ATM in general there are four banks located within two blocks of the Market: BB&T, Huntington National, United, & WesBanco.
