While stocking up on fresh, local produce is a great motivator for a market visit, don't forget that our vendors have more than just food! Whether you are looking for fresh flowers to spruce up your home or beautiful handmade products, there's definitely a lot offered each and every week.
We recommend checking out our Pinterest site!
While we wait out the winter, we can at least dream about the Spring and Summer.
Our Market is a great weekly family and community event, which is perfect even for kids!
Your Morgantown Farmers Market is still open during the Winter!
Our next Market is on December 1, 2012 at the Wesley United Methodist Church from 11AM-2PM. Not sure what is seasonally available? These are some of the products that you can still find!
Thanks to all of our loyal customers for making our Summer Season absolutely fantastic!!!
Yesterday, November 17, 2012, from 11AM-2PM was our first Winter Market for the season, for which we have moved indoors. We are now at a new fabulous location in the gymnasium of the Wesley United Methodist Church on the corner of North High and Willey Street. The people at the Church have been extremely generous in letting us use their great space! It is much larger than our old Winter Market space, which means more vendors have the option to attend with more products. There is also more area for our lovely customers to bring their families and friends with them!
(Please note that your dogs and other pets are only welcome at the Summer Market)
This weekend we had lots of vendors show up with all sorts of products for Thanksgiving, including sweet potatoes, stuffing, and turkey! Our non-profit was Bunny Feathers, a local rabbit rescue that is dedicated to learning & sharing knowledge on the care of these small companions in the Morgantown, WV area. The Morgantown Farmers Market was also lucky to have have The Short Brothers come and play for us this weekend. Their music always adds to the atmosphere at the Market, making it a most amazing place to be! If you have not heard this group yet, I strongly encourage you taking a few minutes to listen to their tunes.
I hope to see all of our customers joining us for the next Winter Market on December 1st. We will have a special Christmas Corner at the Market hosted by Hopping Acres, The Sheepherders Kitchen, Evans Knob Farm, Green Glades Creamery, and Two Cousins Soap.
We have an open air Market, so well-behaved dogs are welcome!
Check out our Pooch Policy for details.
Ends and beginnings - there are no such things. There are only middles. — Robert Frost “In the Home Stretch"
The middle of a story is the best place to begin.
This is the story of the Morgantown Farmers Market in Morgantown, WV. It began 11 years ago at the Seneca Center with a few vendors and some community-based & WVU Davis College support. To those that originally decided to come together and start a Market - MORGANTOWN THANKS YOU.
Since the beginning, the Market has gone through a number of changes and varied locations. It has faced adversity and tension on numerous sides. However, the Market has lived on and now has more than 30 vendors that come together every Saturday from the first weekend in May through the first weekend in November to create a sought out community event.
In a few weeks, our Market will finally have an official home in Morgantown in the form of an actual set structure. The Morgantown Market Place will allow the Morgantown Farmers' Market to have a permanent presence in Downtown Morgantown. During the week the pavilion will be used for parking, but on Saturday mornings it will be bustling with customers hunting for their favorite produce and vendors. As more and more of the Morgantown Market Place goes up, it is becoming harder to contain our excitement. However, this project has been five years in the making, so we can wait a few more weeks, but with child-like anticipation assuredly.
As this story does not have a real beginning nor hopefully ever an ending, please support the Morgantown Farmers Market on our continuous journey.
I hope you enjoy our photos and updates.
